Your either one of two things in this world, you either somebody, or you ain't knowbody

If I had to create a bumper sticker that modeled my philosophy for life, it would be you are either one of two things in this world, your either somebody or you ain't knowbody.

In perspective, this was said by Frank Lucas in the movie American Gangster. i found it to be a very meaningful quote because it has a strong message on the way peoples lives are carried out. in my point of view this is correct. You either are someone doing something for yourself or others in this world, or your acting like a noobdy doing nothing all the time or already acting like someone, meaning you cannot act as yourself. By saying so, that you are someone, in my view means you completed goals in your life. I know I have completed goals in my life and after i complete them i make new ones. Thats my way life as i see it. You set a goal, you break a goal, then you set a new goal. Thats the way life is to me. Whenever you accomplished it you can say you did something in this world to benefit yourself or others.

Now when talking about people who are nobodys then were saying people who dont live life to the fullest and expect for things to happen to them. Thats alright, let them do that. They might not make it very far, but hey thats there choice. These people not setting goals i guess dont strive for new meaning these days.

  1. I agree, there are too many people i know around me that resemble your "nobodies." They go on living what other people are living never having their own goal. I think that to be successful, you need to set your own goals because you get a better satisfaction when you complete it.

  2. I looked at your philosphy in a somewhat different aspect. To me your philosphy is saying that you either make something of yourself and be successful or your a loser, a faliure, like you said a nobody. Your philosoohy is true, theres basically two kind of people in this world, those who succeed(somebody) and those who fail (nobody).

  3. I like your article. Sounds to me like the two types of people in this world could be described as selfish and giving. The real treasure in life is giving to others and like you said "being a somebody." It's a hard thing to do, but as we start to give of ourselves, it seems to become easier over time.

  4. I have to agree with your philosophy. Like you said, either you are setting goals to make something of your life, or you dont give any effort, what ever happens, happens. I believe there are to many people in society that are in your words considered as "nobodies"

  5. Your philosophy makes sense. There are people out there who are motivated "go-getters" and then those people who don't really care and just ride on others coattails. It's easy to see the difference in personalities. By doing something with your life and making a difference, the change is tremendous.

  6. I agree, a person could make so much of his/her life and to waste such a gift that shouldn't be taken for granted is a shame. Why strive for nothing when there is so much potential? People who choose that path are missing out on endless possibilities.

  7. I def. agree with this bumpersticker too. Sometimes it feels like you have to be somebody important to actaully be a somebody. If not you're not anyone. If you don't do anything with your life it will feel like you're a nobody.

  8. If you take this quote out of context and use it to say "make something out of your life" i would absolutely agree. However, i think this quote ,used in the movie, portrayed money and power, where i think a meaningful modest life can greatly outweigh the two.

  9. I don't get how the quote had to do with your philosophy, but I like your philosophy

  10. This is closely related to my quote. I believe that without hardwork success is NOT possible in this rough American society.

  11. I agree, but yet disagree. I think that as long as you do something with your life, and if youre happy, then you are a somebody. But if you waste youre life, then you are a nobody

  13. Amazing, I have to agree with you on this one. I like how you quoted it from a movie. I've never heard of this phrase before so it's nice to read about something I'm unaware of. Learned something new!

  14. That is a very true statement. It is also bold, In the real world if you're not at the top of the food chain your at the bottom and there is no in between. Good bumpersticker!
